Hi,

With a little help from my friends....

I now have a bevel miter gauge for my Joint-Matic. It was a long process getting one, starting a couple of years ago after I got my Joint-Matic. But now the wait is over.

So anyone who is interested in seeing what my new (to me) toy looks like check out:

Ed you're sharing your skills and knowledge with the wrong people. In the current issue of Wood mag (#184, July 2008, pg. 14) the \"Top Shop Tip\" features what is essentially a home built version of the bevel miter gauge by Colonel Joy Wood, USAF ret.

She needed a faster way to produce parts for flag cases (a project on my list) so necessity was the mother of invention. Wood awarded her a Grizzly band saw for her submission.

I can see it now. Ed submits an idea and Shopsmith awards him an SPT! ;)

Hi Ron,

I was going to mention this before but have you looked at the vertical miter fixture at:
www.jointech.com/free-downloads.htm

You have to look down the page a bit...

Shopsmith is pretty clear that you can submit ideas and can expect to get nothing in return, a policy which seems a bit out dated. Not that I would want a grizzle saw (we don't see any grizzle here anyway so I have to cut up other stuff) or a SPT but it would be nice to get something.

I guess I'll have to test out the new joint I developed today and maybe send that in to one of those places that will pay.... or I could just tell you about it here, now I'll have to think about it.

Thanks, Ed. I'd never looked at that page. I suppose the bevel miter gauge concept isn't new but it often seems to be a somewhat forgotten one.

The other fixture there of interest to me is the spline jig. On my ever lengthening list are a few flag cases.
