Saw guard upgrade for Mark V

Actually, I'm concerned about the height. Say you do the following: raise the table to it's maximum height. Tilt to 45 deg. Lower the table to its lowest position (until the right side hits the tubes). Now, if the table is wider, you can't lower it as much.

By the way, I use an ACER laptop and it's not bad. Customer service aside.

Hi,

It is true you can not lower the table as far but then you don't need to. I ran out and took a picture to show how it works... go to:
new.photos.yahoo.com/elv60504@sbcglobal....294928804439785123/0

you can double click to make the image larger if you wish. As show you have about 5" of disk showing. Table is at 45 deg stop and sanding insert is in place.

Ed, I can't get that photo to come up. I just get a list of stuff and a debug message from Yahoo.

Correct me if I'm wrong but won't the 520 table tilt so that the edge of the table can be near the sanding disk similar to the 500 IF you slide everything as far as it will to toward the end of the machine?

I'm in the process now of upgrading to the 510, and I would like to know which of the model 500 saw arbors can still be used. I have the 1-1/4, the 5/8 and the dado arbors for my 500.

Hi,

None of the saw arbors will work. OK you can cheat and try to space out the quill the right amount but you will not get it to work with the saw guard... so purchase the right ones! I think when you get the upgrade kit from shopsmith they give you one???

As far as the 5/8" dado / molder arbor it still fits.

Yes, the 5/8" dado arbor still fits for the upgrade situation, but the 5/8" saw blade arbor is different for the 500 as opposed to the 505, 510, and 520 models.
