Front table extensions?

Do later version MarkV500 front table/mitre extensions work on the MarkVII? I've never really looked at a 500 table close enough, but I believe the extrusion for the fence rail is considerably different from the one on the MarkVII. The later versions do have two steps to the clamp so I thought it may work. Anyone ever try?

What I'd like to know, is will they fit on an ER? (The Mk V ones.)

Where's Skip, when we need him? :D

No, that I know. The mitre slots are different sizes and the fence bars are completely different sizes and shapes. We're stuck needing ER extensions there, brother.

DPF,

Isn't the Mark VII table the one with the extra slot in it out towards the edge? I saw one of these table up close once a few years ago by itself, no Mark VII, and it occured to me then that it was very much like the Mark V 500 table. So I'm thinking maybe the front table extension would fit.

Did SS know anything in that regard?

To my knowledge, and that's limited in regard to a MarkV, the tables are different. The MarkVII table was a little longer front to back than any early MarkV, though I could be wrong. The MarkVII table is 21" front to back I believe. The MarkVII table does have the secondary slot. I know some MarkV's had that, but I believe it was still a different table.

As far as the fence rail, I've always thought the MarkV rail was a simple L-shaped extrusion. The MarkVII rail is more complicated than that with a large chamfer on the bottom edge.

I haven't called SS on the subject as they tend to balk at questions aimed at using current parts with older "Not made by Shopsmith, Inc" machines. Like when I asked if I could mount a Jointer guard retro-kit on my 4E jointer. They said no way, but it's the same as a 620. I figured there had to be a MarkVII owner who's tried it and that would be a better source.

Pic of fence rail, I believe this is different from MV rail, but can't say for sure.
