Rick-okc created the topic: Switch replacement
I think my switch is finally going out. I'm interested in replacing the original three-button switch with two toggle switches, one for forward and the other for reverse. I plan on putting protective covers over both switches to prevent both from being turned on at the same time. I found a wiring diagram showing how to connect one toggle switch, for forward operation only. In the diagram, it shows a four-pole toggle switch with the black wire from the power cord in line (switched) with the blue wire from the motor and the white wire from the power cord in line (switched) with the white wire from the motor. It also shows the purple and black wires connected together (wire nut) and the same with the red and orange wires (wire nut) all coming from the motor. What I'd like to know is how do I connect the wires for forward and reverse operation using two switches. I thought about using a three position switch (On/Off/On) but I'm afarid I might accidently switch from forward past off to reverse. Two switches woulod prevent this.

Can anyone tell me how to wire this up?
