I'm Close to getting a MK VII, and I don't want to buy into a headach.
Is a MK VII a usefull machine like a MK V, or is it more of a "project" for collecting? Rebuilding? opinions please!!!!!
Thanks
Keith

My viewpoint, and comments, may/mayn't be relevant. It all depends upon your woodworking expertise, and you 'liquid assets'. If you're experienced and you know you're needing the increased versatility [more doodads/thing-ama-jigs] of a more expensive machine, then go for it. Otherwise, an older, somewhat less versatile, but commensurately less expensive machine, [call it a learner's machine] might be the best route. Owner's have machines' that are family heirlooms, and a lot of projects are sucessfully made. If things don't work out, you don't have a large investment, to 'offload'. Conversely, if cashflow is no problem, by buying the newer version, you get a warranty. Also, you could be the startup owner, of that future heirloom!!! {This assumes your crystal ball, shows the future generations, are potentially worthy recipients}
The longevity of these machines, is dependent on preventative maintenance. Many, many of we proud owners, have had our machine/s 10>40 or more years.

Thanks AZ, Great food for thought, the investment "is" small in comparison to a new machine, but , the more I read in this group,the more I'm thinking," this is probably a decent machine", although old , I can probably repair most things myself as needed.
Thanks
